Spicy Cheese Straws

1 tablespoon paprika

1⁄ 2 teaspoon dried thyme

1⁄4 to 1⁄ 2 teaspoon floor crimson pepper (cayenne)

⁄4 teaspoon salt

1 package deal (17 1⁄4 ounces) frozen puff-pastry sheets, thawed

1 massive egg white, flippantly crushed

8 ounces sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded (2 cups)


1. Grease two massive cookie sheets. In small bowl,

mix paprika, thyme, floor crimson pepper, and salt.

2. Unfold 1 puff-pastry sheet. On flippantly floured

floor, with floured rolling pin, roll pastry into 14inch

sq.. Calmly brush with egg white. Sprinkle half of paprika combination

on pastry. Sprinkle half of Cheddar on half of pastry. Fold pastry over to cowl

cheese, forming rectangle. With rolling pin, flippantly roll over pastry to seal layers collectively.

With pizza wheel or knife, reduce pastry crosswise into  1⁄ 2-inch-wide strips.

3. Preheat oven to 375°F. Place strips 1⁄ 2 inch aside

on ready cookie sheets, twisting every strip twice to

type spiral and urgent ends towards cookie sheet to

occasion strips from uncurling. Bake cheese straws till

golden, 20 to 22 minutes. With spatula, rigorously

switch to wire racks to chill.

4. Repeat with remaining puff-pastry sheet, egg

white, paprika combination, and cheese. Retailer in hermetic
